Prayer Shawl Ministry begins with prayers and blessings for the recipients of our knitted, crocheted, or sewn shawls and lap quilts. Those who need to feel God’s unconditional love and comfort in their lives are given the hand-made items during illness, major problems, or for the celebration of sacramental anointing. The garments are blessed by our priest or deacon, and are available during parish office hours. We have created more than 660 garments in less than 5 years!
Our other outreach activities have included making scarves and hats for the homeless, baby items for the Knights’ Ladies Baby Shower, and small pocket crosses for Lent, First Communion, and Prayer Ministry.
We have an open invitation for new members – you need not have experience with knitting or sewing for this ministry – we’d love to help you learn!
