What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?
This is the heir.
What parts of my Catholic heritage are most precious to me? What can I do to preserve and share that heritage?
By the Lord has this been done,/ and it is wonderful in our eyes.
How have I seen the Lord active in my life this week? How can I give God praise for all he has done for
me?
Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.
What fruits has my life of faith produced? How can this fruit help build up the kingdom of God?

Ministry Forum and Appreciation Breakfast
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 8:00 in the morning, the Ministry Forum and Appreciation Breakfast will take place in the Parish Hall to appreciate the volunteers of our parish and to present the alignment of ministries under the 5 core mission areas of St. John the Evangelist Church. We invited the Auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. Bruce Lewandowski, C. SC. R. to be our keynote motivational speaker and Mr. Waye Hipley of the Office of Parish Renewal to assist in the alignment process. This event is open to all parishioners. The event is an action step created by the Ministry Implementation team to increase awareness and participation by parishioners in ministries that will satisfy one’s personal calling and partnership with Jesus.
I would like to ask the leaders of current ministries to inform their members about this event and submit to the Office the total number and names of their participating members as soon as possible.

Pilgrimage Passport
The Bishops of the United States have called for a Eucharistic Revival. In order to better understand and have a devotion to the Eucharist, they are calling all Catholics to take this year as a time of prayer and formation. The bishops are using the image of a pilgrimage both figuratively and actually. A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey meant to bring you closer to God.
At St. John, we are inviting you to use a passport to chronicle your personal pilgrimage. Your journey will take you through some difficult tasks and others will be quite simple; some can be done alone, some will require the cooperation of others; some will be fun, some will be prayerful, and some will be a formation experience. We hope that all of them will help you in your understanding of the Eucharist and your relationship with Jesus.
As you complete a task, take a picture of yourself doing the task or bring the finished project to the parish. We will give you a sticker that indicates you took another step along the pilgrimage. There’s no order in which you must proceed. Do them as you wish and as you feel inspired. You don’t have to do them all but do the ones that inspire you. And if you have something you think is Eucharist-related but is not on the list, bring it to us so we can see what you created.
There will be recognition at various levels of the pilgrimage. We will pray for all who undertake this journey towards Christ and look forward to seeing your steps along the way.
The weekend of October 14/15 will be our kick-off. Passports will be available for anyone who wants to take up this invitation from the bishops. We at St. John hope that you will find it to be a spiritually fruitful experience.
God bless your pilgrimage,
The Parish Staff of St. John the Evangelist Parish

Eucharistic Adoration
“Adoration is the first attitude of man acknowledging that he is a creature before his Creator. It exalts the greatness of the Lord who made us and the almighty power of the Savior who sets us free from evil. Adoration is homage of the spirit to the “King of Glory,” respectful silence in the presence of the “ever greater” God. Adoration of the thrice-holy and sovereign God of love blends with humility and gives assurance to our supplications.” (CCC 2628)
In this year of Eucharistic Revival, join us for Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesday, October 17, at 9:30 AM, Wednesday, October 18, at 7:00 PM, or Tuesday, October 24, at 9:30 AM in the Chapel.
