What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?
I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. When have I felt that God is far away from me? When have I felt that God is near?
If you know me, then you will also know my Father. How can I get to know God better? How can I grow in love for God and his Church?
Believe because of the works themselves. How do I demonstrate my faith by the way I live? How can I be of greater service to those in need?

National Eucharistic Revival
Do you have a love of the Eucharist? Have you had a spiritual experience involving the Eucharist? If so, we are looking for you. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops are conducting a Eucharistic Revival from June 2022-July 2024. Beginning June 10, 2023 will be the parish portion of the Eucharistic Revival. As part of the revival we are looking for people who are willing to pray; to share their Eucharistic experience online with others; and/or be Eucharistic Missionaries. It’s easy to do. Go to www.eucharisticrevival.org. Scroll down to “How to get involved?” and click on “Learn more”. Here are the descriptions of what you will be doing in one or more of the three options:
• BECOME A PRAYER PARTNER Join a team of spiritual advocates! Help us cover the whole Revival in prayer, fasting, and penance. Sign up below to unlock special inspiration and opportunities—and to tell us that we can count on your prayers!
• SHARE A TESTIMONY How has Christ’s presence in the Eucharist touched your life? Share your testimony to open more hearts to the healing power of Our Lord.
• BECOME A EUCHARISTIC MISSIONARY Eucharistic Missionaries earnestly, expectantly ask God for revival… and then respond when he calls. Join a movement of Catholics who are committing themselves to prayer, formation, and service.
Look for more details in future bulletins, flocknotes and on the parish website about how our parish will be participating in this revival. We will have small discussion groups; opportunities for adoration; presentations on the Eucharist and its importance in our church; and other events. If you have any questions or want more information, contact Barbara at andersonbh@sjehydes.org or 410-592-5606x106.

Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries
In last week’s Gospel, Jesus gave us the comforting news that we can securely follow his voice. In today’s Gospel, he explains where he’s taking us: “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places” (John 14:2). What security to know that the good shepherd has prepared homes unique for each of us. Such knowledge gives us the freedom to let go of worry since he’s already taken care of our needs. With that freedom, we can serve his kingdom first. Even more exciting is that he gave us power in his service: “Whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these” (John 14:12). He gave our parish the gift of a mission to carry out his works here. Please give to our Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. Through it, we can do His works! He gave us the power to draw souls into his eternal family through Baptism. He gave us the ability to offer forgiveness through Confession. He gave us the power to fill souls with peace, warmth, and strength through the Eucharist. Please help us continue to accomplish these works by supporting the Annual Appeal. Your brothers and sisters in Christ will thank you in this life or the next. Let’s get to work! Our parish goal for the Appeal for Catholic Ministries is $82,248. We are about 96% of the way there, with $78,670. To contribute, visit www.archbalt.org/appeal.
Pastoral Council Nominations
Pastoral Council Elections are coming up via electronic ballot May 22-May 30. The list of nominees is growing. Mother's Day Novena
Mothers’ Day is May 14, 2023. We hear in the Scripture, while Jesus was on the cross, He said, “Son, here is your mother; mother, here is your son.” God entrusted to us our mothers. We must love our mothers; there is no excuse for that. The greatest act of love for our mothers is prayer for them. St. John wishes to partner with you to accomplish this act of love by offering a Novena of Masses (nine Masses) for your mother starting May 14, 2023. We invite you to join the many sons and daughters of our parish to offer Mass intentions for them. Come and include your mother in this Novena. Envelopes are available in the Narthex and Parish Office.
Anointing of the Sick
Those in ill health or preparing for medical procedures may receive this sacrament after the 9:00 AM Mass next Sunday, May 14, or on the 2nd Sunday of any month.
