What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?
The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept because it neither sees nor knows him. When have I failed to give witness to God’s truth? What can I do to help create a more just and truth-filled culture?
Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. Which commandments of the Lord do I struggle to observe? How do I demonstrate my love for Jesus through my actions?
I will love him and reveal myself to him. How has God revealed himself to me this week? How can I help others to perceive God’s actions in their lives?

National Eucharistic Revival
Do you have a love of the Eucharist? Have you had a spiritual experience involving the Eucharist? If so, we are looking for you. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops are conducting a Eucharistic Revival from June 2022-July 2024. Beginning June 10, 2023 will be the parish portion of the Eucharistic Revival. As part of the revival we are looking for people who are willing to pray; to share their Eucharistic experience online with others; and/or be Eucharistic Missionaries. It’s easy to do. Go to www.eucharisticrevival.org. Scroll down to “How to get involved?” and click on “Learn more”. Here are the descriptions of what you will be doing in one or more of the three options:
• BECOME A PRAYER PARTNER Join a team of spiritual advocates! Help us cover the whole Revival in prayer, fasting, and penance. Sign up below to unlock special inspiration and opportunities—and to tell us that we can count on your prayers!
• SHARE A TESTIMONY How has Christ’s presence in the Eucharist touched your life? Share your testimony to open more hearts to the healing power of Our Lord.
• BECOME A EUCHARISTIC MISSIONARY Eucharistic Missionaries earnestly, expectantly ask God for revival… and then respond when he calls. Join a movement of Catholics who are committing themselves to prayer, formation, and service.
Look for more details in future bulletins, flocknotes and on the parish website about how our parish will be participating in this revival. We will have small discussion groups; opportunities for adoration; presentations on the Eucharist and its importance in our church; and other events. If you have any questions or want more information, contact Barbara at andersonbh@sjehydes.org or 410-592-5606x106.

Reading and meditation lead to communion with the Lord or just bask in the light of the Eucharist. Come before the Blessed Sacrament to share your pure love on Tuesday, May 16 at 9:30 AM in the Chapel.
Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals that a wonderful day is approaching. Of it, He says, “On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me and I in you” (John 14:20). It can be easy to miss the magnitude of what He is saying, either because it’s strange or because of our familiarity with His words. He is describing oneness. God is Spirit, inviting us to spiritual oneness with him. The spiritual world can seem so delicate and perfect that it becomes synonymous with “practically irrelevant.” Becoming one with God is possibly the most practical of all things. When Jesus is in you, possibilities are endless: “For God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). And God doesn’t stop at spiritual oneness with us. He wants us to be one with each other, too. Our parish is here to facilitate both. Our Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries needs you to succeed. God is alive in our parish, and we want others to taste and see. Please give to the Annual Appeal so that we can help others experience the satisfying love of Jesus. He waits only for our “yes” to bring his transforming light into the lives of his children here! Our parish goal for the Appeal for Catholic Ministries is $82,248. We are about 96% of the way there, with $78,670. To contribute, visit www.archbalt.org/appeal.
Wedding Anniversary Blessings
The Blessing for those married in the month of June will take place next Sunday, May 21, after the 9:00 AM Mass. Please contact the parish office to register.
Pastoral Council Nominations
Pastoral Council Elections are coming up via electronic ballot May 22-May 30. The list of nominees is growing. If you have a desire to serve our parish as a council member to represent fellow parishioners in working with Father Pete to support the continued growth and development of our church community, please contact Ray Dietz at craytrek@comcast.net or Ruth Ann Smith at rajdsmith@comcast.net.
Mother's Day Novena
Mothers’ Day is May 14, 2023. We hear in the Scripture, while Jesus was on the cross, He said, “Son, here is your mother; mother, here is your son.” God entrusted to us our mothers. We must love our mothers; there is no excuse for that. The greatest act of love for our mothers is prayer for them. St. John wishes to partner with you to accomplish this act of love by offering a Novena of Masses (nine Masses) for your mother starting May 14, 2023. We invite you to join the many sons and daughters of our parish to offer Mass intentions for them. Come and include your mother in this Novena. Envelopes are available in the Narthex and Parish Office.
