What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me? Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me.
What do I love more than God? How can I re-orient my life to place God at its center?
Whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.
What cross is Jesus asking me to carry this week? Is there someone I can help to carry his or her cross?
Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
Who is excluded from my welcome? How can I be more welcoming?

Learn more about the Eucharist and the Eucharistic Revival
In 2022, the US bishops launched an initiative for a “Eucharistic Revival”. The parish phase begins this weekend and will culminate in a “Eucharistic Congress” being held in Indianapolis in July 2024. At St. John’s we are entitling the Revival “That We May Believe.” The bishops are inviting us to participate in four different areas of reviving and expanding the role the Eucharist and faith have in our everyday lives. In the upcoming weeks, we will highlight one of those invitations. The first invitation is:
Reinvigorate Worship: We have great celebrations of the Mass and other prayers here at St. John’s. Great music, wonderful participation, faith-filled lay ministers, and dynamic presiders are all present when we gather to pray. However, there’s always room for improvement. Over the next few weeks, you may begin to see some minor changes in our celebrations. For example, there may be some short times of reverent silence between various parts of the Mass giving us time to reflect on what we just heard or did. Also, to participate fully, actively, and consciously, we should come prepared. Praying with the Sunday readings the week before can help us be better participants. If you aren’t already, consider adding this to your prayer time.
If you want to help with planning events and activities for our parish participation in the revival, contact Barbara at andersonbh@sjehydes.org or 410-592-6206 x106. Why Now?
BECAUSE THE CHURCH NEEDS HEALING. AND THE WORLD NEEDS THE CHURCH.
Scandal, division, disease, doubt. The Church has withstood each of these throughout our very human history. But today we confront all of them, all at once. Our response in this moment is pivotal.
In the midst of these roaring waves, Jesus is present, reminding us that he is more powerful than the storm. He desires to heal, renew, and unify the Church and the world.
How will he do it? By uniting us once again around the source and summit of our faith in the celebration of the Eucharist. The National Eucharistic Revival is the joyful, expectant, grassroots response of the entire Catholic Church in the U.S. to this divine invitation.

Steubenville Novena
As the departure date for the High School Conference approaches, we ask if you would please join us for a novena for these young pilgrims and their adult chaperones. The Novena will begin on Saturday, July 8 and end on Sunday, July 16th (the day we return home). Please let us know you are praying by emailing Colleen Sisolak.
All-powerful God, you always show mercy toward those who love you and you are never far away for those who seek you. Remain with your servants on this holy pilgrimage and guide their way in accord with your will. Shelter them with your protection by day, give them the light of your grace by night, and, as their companion on the journey, bring them to their destination in safety. May the Lord grant that the journey we begin, relying on him, will end happily through his protection. Amen.
