What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me? Jesus’ heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.
When have I felt troubled and abandoned? How can I be more attentive to those on the margins who feel as though no one cares?
The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.
What fruits do I reap from the practice of my faith? How can I better serve God and my neighbors?
Without cost you have received; without cost, you are to give.
What gifts has God given to me? How can I express my gratitude for these gifts?

National Eucharistic Revival - Online Resources
In 2022, the US bishops launched an initiative for a “Eucharistic Revival”. The parish phase begins this weekend and will culminate in a “Eucharistic Congress” being held in Indianapolis in July 2024. At St. John’s we are entitling the Revival “That We May Believe.” The bishops are inviting us to participate in four different areas of reviving and expanding the role the Eucharist and faith have in our everyday lives. In the upcoming weeks, we will highlight one of those invitations. The first invitation is:
Reinvigorate Worship: We have great celebrations of the Mass and other prayers here at St. John’s. Great music, wonderful participation, faith-filled lay ministers, and dynamic presiders are all present when we gather to pray. However, there’s always room for improvement. Over the next few weeks, you may begin to see some minor changes in our celebrations. For example, there may be some short times of reverent silence between various parts of the Mass giving us time to reflect on what we just heard or did. Also, to participate fully, actively, and consciously, we should come prepared. Praying with the Sunday readings the week before can help us be better participants. If you aren’t already, consider adding this to your prayer time.
If you want to help with planning events and activities for our parish participation in the revival, contact Barbara at andersonbh@sjehydes.org or 410-592-6206 x106. Prayer Ministry Next Weekend
Prayer Ministry consists of teams of trained Prayer Ministers who are able to pray with you and for you regarding specific requests or special intentions.
Prayer Ministers serve as intercessors in the parish community to fulfill the call to pray for one another. After all Masses on the last weekend of each month, Prayer Teams will be stationed around the sides of the church sanctuary. Simply approach a Prayer Team member, tell them your concerns, and allow them to pray with you and for you, knowing that God hears and answers our prayers. Prayer Ministers will be available after all Masses next weekend, June 24/25.
These colorful booklets and activity sheets are available to help young children better understand the Mass and the weekly readings. These free resources can be found in the narthex.
Communion to the Homebound
If you or someone you know are homebound and would like to receive Holy Communion, please contact Barbara Anderson at andersonbh@sjehydes.org or 410-952-6206 ext. 106. Also, if you would like to serve as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, let us know. We are always looking for people to provide Holy Communion to those who are unable to come to Sunday Masses. We will provide training to those who want to take Holy Communion to others and provide you with a container to take communion with you as well as a book of prayers.
