What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me? Fear no one.
What do I fear? How do my fears inhibit my following God’s will for me?
You are worth more than many sparrows.
How do I show that my life is a gift from God? How do I demonstrate respect for my dignity and that of others?
Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.
How have I given witness to my faith in God? How does my way of living reflect what I believe?

Prayer Ministry This Weekend
Prayer Ministry consists of teams of trained Prayer Ministers who are able to pray with you and for you regarding specific requests or special intentions.
Prayer Ministers serve as intercessors in the parish community to fulfill the call to pray for one another. After all Masses on the last weekend of each month, Prayer Teams will be stationed around the sides of the church sanctuary. Simply approach a Prayer Team member, tell them your concerns, and allow them to pray with you and for you, knowing that God hears and answers our prayers. Prayer Ministers will be available after all Masses this weekend, June 24/25.
Learn more about the Eucharist and the Eucharistic Revival
In 2022, the US bishops launched an initiative for a “Eucharistic Revival”. The parish phase begins this weekend and will culminate in a “Eucharistic Congress” being held in Indianapolis in July 2024. At St. John’s we are entitling the Revival “That We May Believe.” The bishops are inviting us to participate in four different areas of reviving and expanding the role the Eucharist and faith have in our everyday lives. In the upcoming weeks, we will highlight one of those invitations. The first invitation is:
Reinvigorate Worship: We have great celebrations of the Mass and other prayers here at St. John’s. Great music, wonderful participation, faith-filled lay ministers, and dynamic presiders are all present when we gather to pray. However, there’s always room for improvement. Over the next few weeks, you may begin to see some minor changes in our celebrations. For example, there may be some short times of reverent silence between various parts of the Mass giving us time to reflect on what we just heard or did. Also, to participate fully, actively, and consciously, we should come prepared. Praying with the Sunday readings the week before can help us be better participants. If you aren’t already, consider adding this to your prayer time.
If you want to help with planning events and activities for our parish participation in the revival, contact Barbara at andersonbh@sjehydes.org or 410-592-6206 x106. Sing to the Lord, Bless His Name!
The two winning compositions of the Music Competition for the National Eucharistic Revival sponsored by the bishops have just been announced on June 15.
The submission chosen for the official Hymn is “Let the Earth Acclaim Christ Jesus,” by Kathleen Pluth, MA, STL, of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Eucharistic Revival Theme Song “We Do Believe, O Lord” was created by Diane Mahoney, a member of Divine Mercy Parish in Burlington, Iowa.
Diane said she was stunned and in disbelief when she received the call that her song had been selected. “Tears of gratitude flowed along with thanks to God for this astonishing honor!”
Kathleen and Diane will have the honor of hearing their songs performed at the 2024 National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, and the songs will be used in liturgies and events surrounding the Eucharistic Revival across the country.
