What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me? Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
How can I better discern God’s will for my life? How can I become more docile to God’s will and the promptings of the Holy Spirit?
No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.
How do I come to know God better? How can I help others know God?
I am meek and humble of heart.
How can I grow in humility? How can I place others’ needs before my own?

Learn more about the Eucharist and the Eucharistic Revival
In 2022, the US bishops launched an initiative for a “Eucharistic Revival”. The parish phase begins this weekend and will culminate in a “Eucharistic Congress” being held in Indianapolis in July 2024. At St. John’s we are entitling the Revival “That We May Believe.” The bishops are inviting us to participate in four different areas of reviving and expanding the role the Eucharist and faith have in our everyday lives. In the upcoming weeks, we will highlight one of those invitations. The first invitation is:
Reinvigorate Worship: We have great celebrations of the Mass and other prayers here at St. John’s. Great music, wonderful participation, faith-filled lay ministers, and dynamic presiders are all present when we gather to pray. However, there’s always room for improvement. Over the next few weeks, you may begin to see some minor changes in our celebrations. For example, there may be some short times of reverent silence between various parts of the Mass giving us time to reflect on what we just heard or did. Also, to participate fully, actively, and consciously, we should come prepared. Praying with the Sunday readings the week before can help us be better participants. If you aren’t already, consider adding this to your prayer time.
If you want to help with planning events and activities for our parish participation in the revival, contact Barbara at andersonbh@sjehydes.org or 410-592-6206 x106. The Novena will begin on Saturday, July 8 and end on Sunday, July 16th (the day we return home). Please let us know you are praying by emailing Colleen Sisolak.
All-powerful God, you always show mercy toward those who love you and you are never far away for those who seek you. Remain with your servants on this holy pilgrimage and guide their way in accord with your will. Shelter them with your protection by day, give them the light of your grace by night, and, as their companion on the journey, bring them to their destination in safety. May the Lord grant that the journey we begin, relying on him, will end happily through his protection. Amen.
